What a beautiful ‘space age’ toy. This West German Outer Space Carousel tinplate carousel has everything that evokes images of the 1950’s: greasers, bee-hives, rockets and flying saucers.
It’s a truly wonderful carousel with bold graphics and fast twirling action. The colours are nice and bright and the images throughout the toy are fantastic. The multi-coloured top holds 4 space rockets which twirl once the level is sprung.

Each rocket holds a pair of big-haired figures. The male ‘greaser’ is sporting an impressive pompadour and the female has a fab beehive. How swell!
The base of the merry-go-round depicts a fairground image and along the ring of the base are images of flying saucers and rockets. Very cool! The toy measures 6.5 inches in height and 6 inches in diameter (17 cm x 15 cm).
Although somewhat similar in style to the Blomer & Schuler (Nuremberg) range of merry-go-rounds produced at this time, this toy does not bear a trademark.
Condition:
Great working order – nice and bright, wonderful imagery. There is some slight darkening, but it doesn’t detract from its beauty.
