Item: Schuco Dancing Mice tinplate windup toy
Origin: Germany, c. 1940
What a dancing duo! This pre-war Schuco Dancing Mice tinplate windup toy has a clockwork mechanism and, when wound, the large mouse jitters around in circles raising and lowering the small mouse in a twirling motion. This is a fabulous toy to see in action.
All original, the toy is made of tinplate and covered in a combination of felt and velvet. The small mouse retains its plastic-type hula skirt, felt shoes, ears and ribbon. The colours are vibrant with no damage to the clothing. It’s quite a rarity to find the pre-war version of this toy in complete condition.
The toy is fully stamped with the Schuco pre-war markings, and comes with its original Schuco key. One foot of the large mouse is stamped “Schuco Patent” and the other foot reads “Made in Germany”. A superb, collectable toy in an excellent state of preservation.
Condition:
Small amount of age-related wear, with a few marks to top and back of big mouse’s head. Otherwise, the toy is in excellent condition, with a strong clockwork motor and no significant marks, damage, moth holes or restoration.
