Pelaw Metal Polish Tin Sign c. 1890

£195

Item:     Pelaw Liquid Metal Polish Tin Sign
Origin:  England, c. 1890

With a rosy-cheeked young lad wielding a bottle of PELAW – this has to be one of the most adorable tin signs – ever! This really is the business – with bright lithograph and central pictorial feature.

This single-sided advertising sign is made composed of lithographed tin and was manufactured near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England around the turn of the 20th century. It measures 19 inches x 13.5 inches (48cm x 34 cm) and makes a stunning presentation.

As can be expected with a sign of its age, there are scattered areas of oxidation and scratches, particularly around the border. While it’s not perfect, and shows signs of age, it just seems to add to the character and feel of this very old piece – it really is lovely!
