Item:     Liberty Tudric Biscuit Box Archibold Knox 0194
Origin:  England, 1903

Designed for Liberty & Co. Tudric by Archibald Knox in 1903, this very fine and rare biscuit box has timeless appeal. Made of pewter, the box is cast and hand-finished, with ornamental ‘Honesty’ pattern in relief.

This is a beautiful and iconic piece from the height of the Art Nouveau/Jugendstil and Arts & Crafts era. Archibald Knox (1864 – 1933) was the principal silver and pewter designer for Liberty & Co, and he created Celtic designs of the highest quality for the Tudric range.

Of tapering form, the box measures 4.5 square at the base and 4 inches square at the lid. It is 4.5 inches in height (11.5 cm square), and is offered in magnificent polished condition. The box is fully stamped on the bottom with “Made in England”, “English Pewter”, and the number “0914”.

Condition:
Excellent polished condition with a mirror finish, just as it would have appeared when sold by Liberty’s in the early 1900’s. A magnificent piece.
