Lehmann Lila no. 520 – Tinplate clockwork toy
£1,350
Item: Lehmann Lila no. 520
Origin: Germany, c.1903
This comical and complex clockwork toy features a coachman who steers his handsom cab while two woman move erratically back and forth, one of which swings an umbrella at a moving black poodle. The tinplate toy is hand-painted and lithographed with gilt detailing.
This is one of Lehmann’s more desirable and hard-to-find toys, especially in its original condition. The toy is approximately 6 inches tall (15 cm), and the number of moving parts is amazing – it is truly exceptional, especially in its well-preserved state.
Condition:
All mechanisims are working. The paintwork and lithography are very good with minor chipping and fading. Overall excellent, the female passengers even have their original cloth skirts – marvelous!
