Bohemian Flashed Glass Vase c.1880

£159

Item:     Antique Bohemian Flashed Glass Vase

Origin:  Germany, Bohemia, 19th Century, circa 1880’s

Condition:  Very good (see additional information)

An exquisite vase of trumpet form with eight flashed ruby roundels, each engraved with scenes of harvest, stags/forestry and hounds. The middle section of the vase has amber flashed ‘stripes’ of variable lengths from the base reaching upwards to frame each of the roundels. The vase has a clear, solid facet cut toed base. The bottom of the vase is ruby flashed (reflecting upward) and lovingly engraved with an arrow through the center of a bouquet of roses.

This is a truly lovely, solid vase which has survived very well for its age and makes a stunning presentation.

Dimensions: width is approx. 4 inches (10 cm) across the top and approx. 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) across the bottom and height is approx. 5.5 inches (13.5 cm)

Width10cm
Height13.5cm
Condition Generally good for its age, with no chips or cracks to the rim and stem. There are two small chips to the scalloped base as shown in the last image above. Alternating roundels (harvest scenes) are lighter than the other roundels (stags/hounds in forest). This could be intentional or fading from age/wear. A few of the flashed roundels show signs of fading, some more than others. There are tiny blemishes/bubbles inherent to the nature of blown glass, including a small brown blemish just below the roundel of stag in forest (see image above). I mention all of these minor imperfections to represent the item as truly as possible, however, they do not detract from its beauty or its nature as a fine piece of collectible bohemian glass. Although these minor flaws are commensurate with age, they are reflected in the price.
