Item:     Bohemian Amber Flashed Glass Trinket Box
Origin:  Czech Republic, c. 1905

From the Art Nouveau Jugendstil period, this Bohemian amber flashed glass trinket box is circular in form with 18 clear cut roundels on the lid and another 18 clear cut roundels on the base. Measuring a mere 2.75 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches tall (7 cm x 6 cm), both the lid and base are etched to clear with very pretty, delicate detailing. The lid has a magnificent clear etched butterfly – typical of Art Nouveau imagery. Surrounding the butterfly are two laurel branches, and a lovely ring of scroll work.

Absolutely stunning craftsmanship for such a little box. It captures the light beautifully – I seem to see something different every time I turn it. It’s very special and very collectible.

Condition:
Remarkably, this delicately etched glass box is near mint. There is a tiny fracture on the inside rim which is so small it can’t be measured as I could only feel it by which with my fingernail. I’ve attempted to photograph it above, very difficult.
