Battery Operated Apollo 11 American Eagle Lunar Module, boxed – Daishin – Japan

Price Not Announced

Item:  Tinplate Apollo II American Eagle Lunar Module with original box
Circa:  1969

This tinplate, battery operated space toy has superb lithography and features seven actions: Mystery Action, Stop-And-Go, Automatic Open And Shut Hatch, Astronaut Comes In And Out, Revolving Antenna, Flashing Lights, Lunar Sound. The battery operated motor is in excellent operating order, as is the audio. Apart from its bump-and-go action, the superb feature of this toy is when it stops, the hatch lowers, and with lights flashing from within the astronaut appears from the hatch, pauses, and then is snapped back inside and the toy is on its way again with revolving antenna to repeat the series.

With clean and clear tinplate lithograph and hard plastic ‘legs’ and revolving antenna, this is a sturdy space toy that doesn’t disappoint. The toy requires two “D” size batteries and the battery compartment is immaculate.

The box is intact with original price sticker. The box lid has corner splits and tears, please refer to “Condition” below.

Dimensions:
diameter:   approx. 7 inches (9cm)
height:    approx. 8 inches (4cm)

Condition:
The lunar module is in excellent condition with only a few minor scratches to the body. The plastic legs and antenna are excellent, and the battery compartment is clean. The box is intact with original price label and staples, some oxidised. The box lid graphics are excellent, however there are tears to two corners as depicted in the images above. Overall, the toy is excellent and the box is fair to average.

This video goes a little out of focus at  times, but you can still see exactly what a wonderful toy this is:
